教室概要

微生物学教室は初代加藤定吉教授の後、宮本博行教授、秋本茂教授が歴任しました。2011年9月から西尾真智子が当教室を担当しています。

微生物学教室では、感染症を引き起こす様々なマイナス鎖RNAウイルスに関して分子レベルでの解明を目標として、教育・研究を行っています。

教育概要

医学部教育としては、Ⅴ期、Ⅵ期の「生体と微生物」の講義および実習を担当しており、将来、感染症を学ぶ基盤となる微生物についての知識を身につける事を目標にしています。また、Ⅴ期とⅥ期の基礎配属も担当しています。
大学院(修士・博士)課程の講義では共通教育科目において「微生物学・ウイルス学概論」を担当しており、細菌・ウイルスで引き起こされる代表的な感染症について概説します。
大学院では以下の研究内容から個々の研究テーマを選び、研究を進めています。

研究概要

当教室では、マイナス鎖一本鎖RNAウイルスの増殖機構・病原性発現機構を研究しています。非分節のパラミクソウイルス科、3分節のナイロウイルス科、8分節のオルソミクソウイルス科のウイルスを対象としています。パラミクソウイルス科には臨床的に問題となっているムンプスウイルス、麻疹ウイルスやパラインフルエンザウイルス1~4型、センダイウイルスなどが含まれています。また、極めて病原性の高い新興感染症のニパウイルスなども含まれています。我々はプロトタイプであるヒトパラインフルエンザウイルス2型やセンダイウイルスを使って、ウイルスが細胞に侵入し、増殖し、病気を起こすメカニズムを分子レベルで解明しようとしています。オルソミクソウイルス科のA型インフルエンザウイルスは同じように呼吸器感染症を起こしますが、ゲノムは8分節に分かれており、増殖機構にも様々な違いがあります。また、ダニによって媒介される3分節のナイロウイルス科のハザラウイルスの研究も開始しました。このウイルスは極めて病原性の高いクリミア・コンゴ出血熱ウイルスのモデルとして最適であり、安全に様々な研究を進める事が出来ます。様々なウイルスの相違点、共通点を詳細に研究する事によって、マイナス鎖RNAウイルス全般にわたる分子レベルでの解明を目標としています。

ウイルスは生きた細胞に感染し、細胞の持っている様々な能力を活用して子孫ウイルス粒子を産生します。一方、細胞には、ウイルス感染に備えて極めて高度な抗ウイルス機構が備わっています。つまり、ウイルスが子孫を残すためには宿主細胞の持つ様々な防御機構を回避しながら、細胞の様々な機能を利用する必要があります。そこで、ウイルスゲノムやウイルス構成蛋白と関連する宿主蛋白との相互作用を明らかにし、宿主細胞免疫機構に如何に対抗しているのか、あるいは、ウイルス増殖に如何に宿主因子を利用しているのか、そのメカニズムの詳細な解明を目指しています。我々はReverse genetics systemを確立し、ミニゲノム系やリコンビナントウイルスを作製し、様々な成果をあげています。また、ウイルスの病原性、ウイルスの複製及び細胞の相互作用の解析を進めるため、研究に不可欠なモノクローナル抗体も作製しています。これらの基礎的な研究は、今後の新しい治療薬やワクチン開発に大変重要です。

数々の研究の成果が認められ、太田先生と松本先生は共に和歌山医学会の古武賞、本学の若手研究奨励賞に選ばれています。
